with 400 students in 10 classes and 19 teachers. The school has grown to a
strength of 73 staff and 1496 students today. Its popularity in the East can be
seen by the increase in the number of Primary 6 pupils who have chosen this
school, from 1431 in the year 2000 to 3065 in 2004.
The school is equipped with state-of-the-art
facilities which enable staff to effectively carry out programmes to nurture
pupils to be life-long learners who will be loy

Centre has been set up where pupils can relax and engage in meaningful leisure
activities after school.
The school motto is ‘Believe and Grow’. Here in Bedok Green, we Believe that our pupils have the ability to succeed and we will help them Grow. As such, the school’s programmes are designed to develop pupils holistically and help them grow in the moral, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic domains.
The diamond and bamboo icons in the school crest have always served to remind teachers of their role as educators. Every child in the school is like a rough diamond. Teachers are lik
Pupils are strongly encouraged to participate in community service and national education activities to promote active citizenship and show compassion for the less privileged in our society. Pupils rendered their services at the Jamiyah Children’s Home and raised funds for charity. To date, the school has raised a total of $31038.65 for the National Kidney Foundation and received the NKF Lifeforce Bronze Award in 2001 and Gold Awards in both 2002 and 2003. Last December 10 budding student entrepreneurs sold cookies for 3 days at Marine Parade Promenade and raised $1345.70 for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund in project ‘Breakthrough’, a Young Entrepreneurs Programme organised by the South East CDC.
The school is also privileged to be chosen by the South East CDC for its Racial Harmony Youth Ambassador Programme. Our first 6 Racial Harmony Youth Ambassadors were appointed by PM Goh Chok Tong on 21 July 2002 during the South East CDC Racial Harmony Day Parade. They play an active part in promoting racial harmony and understanding within the school, as well as in the community.
Among the CCAs, Bedok Green has done well in canoeing. The students made their debut in 2003 in the National Inter-School Canoeing Championship and were placed 4th, winning 2 silver medals. The team was awarded the East Zone Colors Award. This year, the girls were 1st runner-ups with a haul of 4 gold and 4 bronze medals in the 9th Singapore Dragonboat Association Invitational Canoeing Championship. The school’s lion dance troupe has also performed at various community events like the South East CDC Racial Harmony Day Parade and the launch of Fengshan IRCC in 2002.
The Principal and staff are committed to make Bedok Green Secondary School a ‘school of choice and a community of life-long learners’.
